Gift Bows

Gift bows large and small make a great form of present wrapping and packaging, giving a nice decorative touch that your recipient will surely enjoy.

Gift bows are purchased for several reasons.  Special holiday and occasion gifts are decorated by these bows as well as often used for holiday decorations, by themselves.  You can find these bows quite often even used at Christmas time as part of the trim on holiday trees.  There are several types of these bows available for these and other various uses.

In gift bows, I’ve found that there are many different styles and sizes, such as “mini” and “large” plus different materials and fabrics, such as nylon and velvet.  There are curly bows that have several strands of curls to provide a very “eloquent” appearance, with the various color combinations.  Poly Pom bows are bows are pre-notched and you can fluff them out, on loop at a time; these also come in various colors and designs.  Sheer fabric bows make beautiful holiday and special occasion gift “toppers” as well.

I’ve found that there are many web sites that will help you save money on gift bows.  Some offer discounts, are wholesale and others actually TEACH you how to make your OWN bows.  The following are just a few that I’ve found: www.nashvillewraps.com, www.papermart.com, www.save-on-crafts.com and www.uline.com.   Nashville Wraps even has a special section that offers “eco-friendly” products and they even offer custom printing; for example, if you’d like a special message printed on your bows, this company will be able to do this, for you.

When shopping for gift bows, make sure that what you are searching for is going to be appropriate for the occasion which you are making the purchase.  If you are seeking bows that are for a baby shower gift, for instance, purchasing green and red bows (primarily Christmas colors) would not really be appropriate.  In this case, something of a pastel or lighter shade, especially light pink or powder blue would be more suitable, where for a Christmas gift, a light blue or orange would not represent the “theme” of the purpose of the gift.

There are many ways to decide on the proper gift bows, for the particular occasion for which you are making the purchase.  You can look through the web sites that I mentioned prior, or go to your local area specialty and gift stores for ideas and suggestions.  When making your OWN bows, you can search through online catalogues and forums, as well.  However you choose to decide on the type or types of bows that you need for the purpose you are purchasing, take your time and shop around.

Prices vary just as much, for gift bows as do the styles and colors.   I’ve found packs of 12 bows for $13.44 and even BETTER bargains, such as packs of 24 bows, for only $13.24, with a 15% discount, with a purchase of $200 and more.  I’ve also found a count of 50 bows per package for $15 and up.  The prices for the bows that you make yourself, however tend to cost less, by allowing you “more for you money”, in that purchasing the fabric that you need, by the yard is going to enable you to make more bows, per the “batch” based on the “breakdown” of the price of the fabric, itself.
